Technology and Research
As the orthopaedic team for the state’s only academic health center, we are advancing science through our state-of-the-art equipment, cutting-edge technology and innovative research. Our integrated, evidence-based approach to surgical and clinical care gives patients access to the most advanced techniques and latest treatments for optimal outcomes.Â
Our adult and pediatric spine care is known internationally because of the innovation and leadership of Richard McCarthy, M.D., who pioneered a scoliosis corrective procedure known as Shilla at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The groundbreaking research on inclined sleep products for infants, led by Erin Mannen, Ph.D., assistant professor and baby biomechanics expert, gained national attention as part of a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission investigation into their safety and related rulemaking.
Our highly engaged team of scientists, engineers and surgeons work together and across disciplines to develop new approaches and better solutions that improve healing, speed rehabilitation and enhance patient outcomes.
