Cimi Ward, RN – H7 – Medical Oncology
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Cimi Ward, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of September!
Cimi works on H7 – Medical Oncology and was nominated by a co-worker. The nomination below reflects how Cimi impacted their life in a very special way.
“On 6/14/21, I had a confused patient that needed a stat CT head scan. Transport was running very behind but after an hour, eventually we (the transporter and I) got the patient to CT. I accompanied the patient because they could become very agitated. The transporter then LEFT and as the wait time for another transporter to come by was not for another 30 minutes, I had no option but to take the patient up to the room myself. Note: this patient was very tall, heavy, confused, and had an extended bed! I was struggling getting through H7 to get to F7 and as I laughed at myself for not being able to steer the heavy bed, Cimi asked if I needed help. I of course said yes, because to say I was struggling would be an understatement. She helped me transport my patient all the way inside the patient’s room on F7. She did not know who I was, and I did not know who she was, she simply saw a struggling nurse in need of a hand. I truly, truly appreciated this act of kindness. I thought about how many acts of compassion, by such wonderful nurses, go unnoticed. I could not let this act of kindness go unnoticed! It’s acts like these, by nurses like Cimi, that are so touching, that can completely turn another nurse’s night around!”
Great job, Cimi!
