Tanya Duncan, RN – Apheresis Program
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Tanya Duncan, RN for being selected as the DAISY Award recipient for the month of December!
Tanya works in Apheresis Program and was nominated by a family member of a patient. The nomination below reflects how Tanya impacted their life in a very special way.
“In May of 2018, my brother was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive autoimmune disease. Among many required treatments, he received extensive plasmapheresis treatments while he was intubated in ICU. This was an incredibly traumatic time and my mother would not leave my brothers side. Tanya was performing his daily plasma exchange and could see wear on my mother. Tanya offered amazing support through her kind, reassuring words. She told my mother where she could go get a shower, knowing she had not had one in days, but my mother didn’t want to leave my brother in this very critical, volatile time.
Tanya VOLUNTEERED to come back to the room on her LUNCH BREAK to stay with my brother so that my mom could go take a shower.
Over a year later, after all the infusions, dialysis and transplantation, Tanya Duncan’s selfless acts of kindness during this difficult time will always be cherished by our family and serve as an inspiration to show others the same compassion she showed us. She was truly a blessing in every sense of the word.”
Great job, Tanya Duncan!
