Brianna Zuniga, Patient Care Tech, H8 – Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (NPCU)
Please join the Center for Nursing Excellence in congratulating Brianna Zuniga – for being selected as the May BEE Award winner!
Brianna is a Patient Care Tech on the H8 – Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) and was nominated by a co-worker. The following is the story of how Brianna impacted their life in a way that they will never forget.
Nomination: On the neuro floor, we often have patients who face placement issues and, therefore, have an extended length of stay. Brianna pays special attention to the patients who are so susceptible to depression and loneliness. One patient told his doctor that he is always taken care of and has a good day when Brianna is there. This patient was often angry and depressed. Because of this, he lost a lot of weight refusing to eat. When he would refuse, Brianna would not give up on him. She would try to find food he like and would sit and talk with him. It was always noticeable that the days he smiled and ate the most were when she was there. She has provided the same compassionate care to another long-term patient. All her other patients are treated with the same care and compassion as well. She won our Neuroscience Staff Awards for “Best PCT to Have on Your Team” and “Best PCT to Receive Patients From”. We are so lucky to have her on H8!
Way to go Brianna!
Please congratulate Brianna for Being Exceptional Every day at UAMS!
