COVID-19 Update
Before Coming to a UAMS Health Location
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, think you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, you will need to reschedule your appointment.
Patients who have had a COVID-19 infection may have in-person appointments 21 days after infection or a positive COVID test, as long as your symptoms are improving.
Call the UAMS Health appointment center at (501) 686-8000 to reschedule your appointment or ask if your appointment can be done by phone or video. Please call your clinic if you have questions about coming for an in-person visit.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Everyone who comes to a UAMS Health location is required to wear a mask and pass a health screening. You will also have your temperature taken. Please do not remove your mask until asked to do so by a UAMS Health employee.
Visitors required or recommended to quarantine by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) due to illness, potential exposure, travel or other reason are not allowed at UAMS Health locations until cleared by ADH.
Outpatient Visitor Guidelines
One visitor may come to your appointment with you. You may also include others in your appointment by phone or video chat. Visitors must be 18 or older. Some clinics have additional visitor guidelines. Call your clinic for more information if you have a visitation question.
Please visit our COVID-19 resources to learn more about what to expect at your appointment.
About Liver Transplant Clinic
At the home of the state’s only liver transplant program, our liver team brings all of the expertise necessary to care for your body’s largest internal organ. This service is part of our multi-organ transplant program.
UAMS has a history of Arkansas medical firsts. We added another in 2005 when Arkansas’ first liver transplant was performed at UAMS. Our Medicare-certified program has reported survival rates ahead of national averages since its inception.
By teaming expert surgical staff with a comprehensive group of multidisciplinary transplant physicians and numerous other support specialists, we offer our transplant patients and their families the finest in transplant care through our caring and compassionate team.
In January 2009, the Scientific Registry for Transplant Recipients reported that UAMS’ one-year patient survival rate was 98.25%, compared with the national average of 87.85%.
Arkansans with end-stage liver disease, liver cancer or other liver conditions no longer must travel out of state for the extensive care they need before, during and after a liver transplant or other treatment. Our comprehensive liver service provides seamless, team-oriented care for patients with critical liver problems.
