About Dr. Rude
Clinical Biography
Dr. Katie Rude is a hepatologist specializing in liver transplant and treating a wide range of liver disorders. She completed medical school at the University of Virginia and then went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. She subsequently pursued her fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Washington University in St. Louis, and then stayed on for an additional fellowship in Transplant Hepatology. In 2015, she joined the UAMS faculty and the Central Arkansas Veteran Healthcare System as an Assistant Professor. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and is board-eligible for Transplant Hepatology.

The assistant answered my questions and passed my concerns onto the doctor. She also agreed to schedule me for some services to address my concerns. The doctor in turn discussed my treatment plan.

Her initial entry was pleasant. As the conversation turned to medications and my concerns for the amounts and types I take, because of side effects I have experienced, I felt she didn't want to hear what I had to say. At that point she said this visit is over and she left the room. I find this very concerning because I have never felt part of the team in my health care decisions. I think that type of behavior is unprofessional and frankly makes me sad.

Not the best at the way she spoke, not a very easy person to communicate with considering this was the first time I had met her. I will say she was straight to the point. But I kept having to defend myself on some questions.
