Also called: COVID Vaccine; Coronavirus Vaccine; COVID Jab; COVID Vaccine Booster
UAMS Health is vaccinating all eligible Arkansans according to the Arkansas Department of Health’s vaccination plan, which is based on age and other factors.
We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to protect yourself, your family, your co-workers, and your community as soon as possible by being vaccinated. This is an important first step in ending the COVID-19 pandemic.
About the COVID-19 Vaccine
The COVID-19 vaccines are here to help protect Arkansans from the COVID-19 virus and reduce the spread of the virus in the state.
UAMS Health offers the two-dose Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. After getting your first COVID-19 vaccination, we will schedule an appointment to get the second dose of the same vaccine needed to complete your vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccines are provided at no charge to you. There is no out-of-pocket cost to receive the vaccine. If you have insurance, we will bill your insurance. Please bring a photo ID and an insurance card if you have them.
Masks must be worn at all times in the vaccine locations.
Who Can Get a Vaccine at Our Clinic
First, you don’t have to be a UAMS Health patient to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at our clinic. We offer vaccinations by appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome. Please bring a photo ID and your insurance card if you have them.
To receive a vaccination, you must be an Arkansan who meets the requirements in the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) vaccination plan. This now includes everyone age 5 and above.
Patients under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the vaccine appointment. If a parent or guardian cannot be at the vaccine clinic with the minor, they may print and sign the COVID-19 Vaccine Acknowledgement Form and send it with the minor to the vaccine clinic.
Additional Primary Doses for People Who Are Immunocompromised
If you are immunocompromised, you should get additional “primary” doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Primary doses are not considered booster doses because they are the same strength as the first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
You can get an additional primary dose of the COVID-19 vaccine if you are immunocompromised, over the age of 5 and it has been 28 days since receiving your second dose.

UAMS Health offers third doses of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to all adults who have received their vaccines at least six months ago.
