High-Risk Pregnancy Care
UAMS is home to Central Arkansas’ only maternal-fetal medicine specialists who provide high-risk pregnancy care. In 2020, UAMS Medical Center was recognized as a Center of Excellence for Placenta Accreta, a childbirth complication.
Deluxe Birthing Suites
Our labor and delivery unit provides excellent care with top doctors present 24 hours a day to manage any childbirth-related emergency. We also have a midwife service.
We want you to feel welcome and relaxed when you come in to have your baby. That’s why our hospital dedicates an entire floor to labor and delivery. Every suite is private and comes with deluxe accommodations, including a recliner, television, and private shower. If your baby has any special needs, they will be treated using the latest technology and equipment in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Center of Excellence for Obstetric Anesthesia
In 2020, the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia at UAMS was designated a Center of Excellence by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP). UAMS is the only center in Arkansas with the designation and employs the only fellowship-trained obstetric anesthesiologists in the state. For patients, this means that each OB delivery or procedure receives the highest standards of anesthesia care from the most experienced anesthesiologists in the state.
Prenatal Education
You may have questions about your pregnancy, delivery, or life after the baby arrives. Our patient education specialists offer many classes to help you learn about preparing for birth and breastfeeding. If you already have a child or children, we can help prepare your family with our sibling class. And our classes extend beyond the birth of your baby to include classes on infant and child care.
