Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus, often during a woman’s childbearing years. Fibroids almost never develop into cancer and they are not connected to an increased risk of cancer.
Fibroids range in size from “seedlings,” too small to be seen without assistance, to larger masses that may bulge or create distortion in the uterus.
Many women have fibroids at some point in their lives, however, they may go undetected because they do not cause symptoms.
