Well-child visits are important for keeping track of your child’s health. These appointments can help you support your child’s nutrition, growth and development.
At each visit, your child will have a physical exam. The physical exam usually involves the doctor:
- checking your child’s temperature
- listening to the heart, breath and stomach sounds
- doing a standard eye exam
After the physical exam, your doctor will recommend the right shots (vaccinations) for your child’s age group to prevent him or her from getting sick. The doctor will also review your child’s growth and development.
At the well-child visit, you will talk about important milestones for your child’s age group. These visits are a good chance to ask any questions about sleep, safety and what to expect as your child grows.
