Conditions
Conditions most frequently treated or found through arthroscopy include:
- Inflammation
- Injuries such as dislocations, rotator cuff tears and impingement syndrome
- Pieces of loose bone and/or cartilage
Arthroscopy generally involves inserting an arthroscope, a small tube that consists of lenses, video camera and a light, through a small incision in the skin. This allows our surgeon to see the interior of the joint on a screen.
Recovery time depends on the extent of the surgery and on the individual patient. However, most arthroscopic surgery is done on an outpatient basis, and patients are allowed to go home within hours after the surgery.
