About W. Ryan Wood
Clinical Biography
Dr. Wood has held clinical leadership roles in both private practice and refractive surgery settings, including service as Clinical Director of TLC Laser Eye Centers in Little Rock, where he oversaw clinical operations and lectured on advancements in refractive surgery. He subsequently founded Natural State Eyecare in Little Rock before joining the faculty at UAMS.
Dr. Wood’s clinical interests include dry eye disease, glaucoma management, refractive surgery co-management, and medically-necessary contact lens evaluations. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Arkansas Optometric Association.

Academic Biography
Dr. Ryan Wood is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the UAMS Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Arkansas State University and his Doctor of Optometry from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, Arizona. His clinical training included rotations at private practices in Franklin, Tennessee, and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tallahassee, Florida.
