About Jonell S. Hudson
Clinical Biography
Jonell Hudson, Pharm.D., is an advanced pharmacy practice experience preceptor and a family medicine pharmacology rotation preceptor. Her clinical practice includes inpatient rounds with the family practice team at Washington Regional Medical Center and Northwest- Washington County Medical Center.
Jonell S. Hudson's Academic Background
Academic Biography
Jonell Hudson, Pharm.D., is a native of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. She then received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After graduation, she completed an ambulatory care specialty residency in Madison, Wisconsin. She has been board-certified in pharmacotherapy since 2002 and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist since 2015.
She is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at UAMS College of Pharmacy. She teaches in the pharmacy curriculum, precepts students on advanced pharmacy practice experiences, and precepts pharmacy practice residents. She has a clinical practice at the UAMS Health Family Medical Center in Springdale where she educates and manages patients with a variety of disease states in the outpatient setting. She is involved in quality improvement and population health management insuring appropriate drug therapy of patients within UAMS Northwest Regional Campus family medicine clinics. She co-coordinates a pharmacotherapy rotation and a scholarly activity rotation for the family medicine residents. She is also a preceptor at the student-led North Street Clinic located on the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus.
Her research interests include diabetes self-management education and support, medication adherence, and health disparities. She was awarded the American Association of Diabetes Educators- Pharmacy Community of Interest- practice of the year in 2019, the UAMS Chancellors Teaching Award for Society and Health Education excellence in 2016, and is president of the student run free clinics faculty association.
She currently resides in Springdale, Arkansas, with her husband Bryan and their two children, Maggie and Will.
