It would be very beneficial to interview the parents without the patient (child) being forced to hear about the challenges and difficulties that they face. Individuals with disabilities often struggle with self esteem issues. It is not fair to discuss them as if they are too impaired to understand the conversation.

I was on the waiting list to even be see the first time for 2 years. We finally was seen expecting to see a panel of docs while there. After a two year wait we were there for 1.5 hours and spoke to one doctor who mainly spoke to me. She spent 5 minutes talking to him in the little room we were in. She gave him a partial diagnosis and meds and said we have to come back for more screenings. I asked when and she said I would have to wait for them to call and schedule. So after a two year wait we are waiting again. He has seen the same OT since he was 18 mi the old and now 4. We both expected more to be done and all screenings to be complete in one day. Now I have to wait for who knows how long to get the screenings scheduled. It's been a few days and I have yet to hear from anyone. Very frustrated with the whole process.
