About Walker Family Clinic
Our experts in the UAMS Health Walker Family Clinic provide outpatient mental health services to adults, ages 18 and up. We offer counseling and psychiatric services in a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, psychologists, neuropsychologists, physician assistants, nurses, clinical social workers and professional counselors.
Disorders treated in the clinic include, but are not limited to the following:
- Depression and mood disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma
- Anxiety disorders
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (when paired with another primary disorder)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Disruptive behavior disorders
- Adjustment disorders
- Borderline personality disorder
Evidence-based therapeutic approaches include, but are not limited to:
- Acceptance and commitment therapy
- Dialectical behavioral therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Cognitive processing therapy
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing
General services include the following:
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Medication management
- Neuropsychological testing
- Psychotherapy for individual, family and marital/couples
- Group psychotherapy (dialectical behavior therapy)
Services begin with a thorough diagnostic assessment by a licensed clinician followed by an interdisciplinary treatment team review, if needed. Based on the findings of assessment completed by our team, patients are provided with an individualized treatment plan and may be referred for further evaluation, consultation, medication management and/or psychotherapy. These sessions may take place at the Walker Family Clinic, in other UAMS Health clinics or through community providers.
Our providers work with other health care providers and family members as needed to coordinate recommended evaluation and treatment.

Odyssey Clinic
The Odyssey Clinic is a comprehensive coordinated specialty care outpatient clinic for individuals experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Our program works with with people 16 years old or older who have had any of these problems for less than two years:
- Seeing or hearing things that others don’t
- A feeling of being touched when no one is around
- A feeling of being watched, followed, or being more suspicious of others
- Believing people know personal information (like your thoughts) they shouldn’t be able to know
- Speaking in a way that others can’t understand
- Persistent or unusual thoughts or beliefs
- Trouble thinking clearly or concentrating
- Changes in mood such as strong and inappropriate emotions or little to no emotions at all
- Declines in self-care or hygiene
- Increased social withdrawal from family and friends
- Sudden declines in school or work performance
The Odyssey Clinic offers several specialized care services including:
- Specific individual counseling focused on building resiliency and recovery
- Support in finding a job, going to school, and building success in those endeavors
- Educating patients and families about these problems and how to help their loved ones and themselves
- Connections to other doctors or drug abuse treatment if needed
- Careful use of medicines to help alleviate symptoms
The Odyssey Clinic accepts self-referrals and referrals from mental health and other medical professionals. The Odyssey Clinic accepts people with insurance. If you do not have insurance, we may be able to help you get it. Financial counseling is available as well

Appointments for the Odyssey Clinic are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This service is located on the first floor of the Psychiatry Research Institute.
Prescription Information
To request a prescription refill, call the clinic at 501-526-8200 to speak with a nurse and request a medication refill. You will need to provide the name and phone number of your pharmacy. Prescription refills may take up to seven days.
If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Health Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online through UAMS Health MyChart.

Appointment Information
Appointments are limited to those patients already being seen within the UAMS Health system, and require a referral from a UAMS Health doctor. Patients who are not established with UAMS Health may reach out to UAMS Health AR ConnectNow to quickly access short-term, virtual mental health care.
To request an appointment, call our clinic number as listed above. Please have your insurance information available during your phone call.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
For your first appointment, please arrive 30 minutes early. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you’re taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical and psychiatric records you can provide, including imaging, test results and inpatient hospitalization documentation.
For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.
