Congratulations on your new baby! We know that this can be a time filled with overwhelming joy and happiness.  It can also be a time when you have lots of questions about how to feed your baby.  You have chosen to breastfeed and that gives your baby an amazing start in life, and it is also good for Mom’s health and recovery.  Sometimes a mom’s milk can take a few days to really “come in” and during that time you may worry about how much your baby is eating.  We recommend you speak to your physician about whether your baby needs anything in addition to your breastfeeding.  If your doctor recommends giving a little extra feeding after your breastfeeds we have safe, fully-tested donor human breast milk available to provide that little bit of extra food. 

The Donor Milk to Grow Program provides that little bit of extra food that sometimes is needed to provide a little extra food to a newborn. Sometimes baby needs this extra food for medical indications like low blood sugars or small size at birth. Sometimes baby (and mom) need this while Mom is working on increasing her milk volume. There are many reasons why it may take a few days to see an increase in the amount of milk a mother makes. We strongly encourage families to seek lactation professionals to help make sure that mom’s body makes this transition from pregnancy to lactation smoothly. While you are doing that though it can be stressful wondering if your baby is “getting enough.” When you and your baby’s doctor feel like having an option to give a little bit extra food after a breastfeed is the right choice, we want to make sure that safe options are available. Donor Milk to Grow provides safe, fully tested pasteurized donated human breast milk that can be used in small amounts (usually less than a half an ounce) after a breastfeed to give your baby a little bit extra. And once mom’s milk is present in larger volumes you don’t need these supplements anymore!
