A Hepatobiliary Scan, commonly referred to as a HIDA scan (Hepatobiliary Iminodiacetic Acid scan), is a nuclear medicine imaging test used to evaluate the function of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and small intestine. The primary purpose of this test is to assess how well bile is being produced by the liver, transported through the bile ducts, and stored in or released from the gallbladder.
