About Dr. CarlLee
Clinical Biography
Tyler L. CarlLee, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the shoulder, elbow and knee. Dr. CarlLee was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, and is a proud Little Rock Central Tiger. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance.
He completed medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), where he was awarded the A.J. Thompson, Ethel Brickey Hicks, Barton Foundation, Class of 1957, Carlton Sturms, Roberta and Dorothy Bowling, and Winston K. Shorey Scholarships. He received the Schlumberger, Buchanan Key, Horace Marvin and Whitney Awards for outstanding academic achievement. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society during his third year of medical school.
After graduating from UAMS at the top of his class, he completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. During his residency he received several awards, including the Resident Teacher of the Year Award in 2019 and the Making A Difference Award for Patient Care. He also helped provide care for the Iowa Hawkeyes collegiate athletic teams during his training.
Following his orthopaedic surgery residency, Dr. CarlLee completed a Sports Medicine and Shoulder/Elbow Fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he trained alongside recognized leaders in the fields of sports medicine and shoulder/elbow surgery. He worked with the Carolina Panthers NFL football team and the Charlotte Knights (AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox) baseball team. He also helped to provide care for the the Charlotte Forty-Niners football and basketball teams as well as athletes at Davidson College, Queens College, Gardner-Webb University, and J. C. Smith College. He was the team physician for West Charlotte High School.
Dr. CarlLee performs a number of procedures, including knee arthroscopy with meniscus repair, partial meniscectomy, ACL reconstruction, shoulder arthroscopy with rotator cuff repair, and labral repair. He also treats traumatic injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee. He has received unique and focused training in complex procedures of the knee including multi-ligamentous reconstruction, bone realignment procedures, cartilage preservation and restoration procedures. Dr. CarlLee has published peer-reviewed journal articles, presented research nationally, and has served an editor and reviewer for an orthopaedic journal.
Dr. CarlLee and his family were thrilled with the opportunity to return to Arkansas and join the UAMS team. He is excited to serve the Northwest Arkansas community.

Dr. CarlLee has published research in the field of ligament reconstruction, including ACL reconstruction and Tommy John elbow reconstruction.
