Travis R. Eastin, M.D. Emergency Medicine Physician

Dr. Travis Eastin joined the UAMS faculty in September 2013, becoming the eighth residency director in the 30-year history of UAMS Emergency Medicine. He is currently the chief of the Education Division.

Born and raised in Iowa, he attended the University of Iowa before graduating with AOA honors from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2006. Travis completed his emergency medicine residency at Indiana University where he chaired the curriculum committee in his senior year. Following residency, he traveled to the University of Virginia to complete a fellowship in medical education. In 2012, he earned a Master’s degree in Medical Education Leadership from the University of New England.

Prior to coming to UAMS, Dr. Eastin was an associate director of the EM residency at Ohio State, where he oversaw the non-clinical curriculum, implemented an online asynchronous learning curriculum, and was involved in all other aspects of residency education. In 2013, he received the Faculty Teacher of the Year award from the OSU EM residents. Travis is board-certified in emergency medicine and is active in the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD). His academic interests span all aspects of resident education, as well as evidence-based medicine, emergency airway
management, procedural sedation, and pain management.
