Sonia Orcutt, M.D., is a surgical oncologist at the UAMS Medical Center. She treats a broad range of cancers, including those of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, adrenal gland, small bowel, appendix, and stomach, as well as skin cancers and soft tissue sarcomas, and has an interest in minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic and robotic). She has a passion for personalized care for patients using a multidisciplinary approach to provide streamlined and effective cancer care.

Dr. Orcutt's Academic Background

Sonia Orcutt, M.D., received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, graduating magna cum laude and president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed residency in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, followed by fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. She is board-certified in both surgery and complex general surgical oncology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology. She practiced surgical oncology in Illinois prior to joining UAMS

At UAMS, Dr. Orcutt is the Director of the Division of Surgical Oncology. She is also the Associate Program Director for the general surgery residency program. She has won teaching awards from residents and medical students, and has been recognized for her excellence in clinical care by the Arkansas community on numerous occasions. She has been asked to give talks on Surgical Oncology at a national level and is committed to advancing the field of surgical oncology while training the next generation of surgeons.
