About Dr. Smith
Clinical Biography
Dr. Michael Smith completed his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wake Forest University, North Carolina Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina. During his residency he was awarded the Best Resident Teacher in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Smith is originally from Little Rock, but grew up in nearby Hot Springs, Arkansas. He came back to serve his fellow Arkansans at UAMS. In 2010, he received the Red Sash Award for significant impact on medical education as nominated by medical students. He enjoys practicing at UAMS for its comprehensive care and numerous resources in technology as well as staff members.

Walking in the staff were very nice and sweet. The nurses and the way they listen to you and care for you were AMAZING!!! My doctor he was very patient, understanding, caring and broke everything down that way I understood everything he was absolutely AMAZING!! I can't thank my doctor and nurses enough for everything they done while I was there!! :))

I was very uncomfortable that I was not informed that I would be seen by a nurse practitioner instead of my doctor. A gynecological exam is a very uncomfortable and vulnerable process and I am distressed that this provider has sent in a different person to do the exam each appointment. I would like to build a relationship with my provider and it is draining and distressing to have to explain my medical history to a different nurse practitioner each appointment.
