Clinical Biography
Meryll Bouldin, M.D., joined the Department of Emergency Medicine as an Assistant Professor in 2019. Dr. Bouldin is a 2019 graduate of the UAMS Emergency Medicine Residency Program. She came to UAMS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Bouldin’s honors include the national “Resident Rocks It!” award from the American Association of Women Emergency Physicians in 2018 and the Resident Award and Travel Grant from the Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine in 2019.

Academic Biography
Dr. Meryll Bouldin, MD joined the Department of Emergency Medicine as an assistant professor in 2019. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, she graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine’s 6-year program in 2016, followed by residency training at UAMS, where she received prestigious awards including the “Resident Rocks It” from the American Association of Women Emergency Physicians and the “Outstanding Resident Award” from the Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Bouldin is engaged in both graduate and undergraduate medical education. She served as core faculty for the residency program from 2020 to 2024 before assuming her current role as assistant Program Director. She also serves as Co-Chair for the residency program’s Clinical Competency Committee. In undergraduate medical education, Dr. Bouldin directs the Practice of Medicine-2 (POM-2) Clinical Skills Course for second-year medical students at UAMS.
Beyond education, Dr. Bouldin chairs the emergency department’s Health Equity and Community Outreach Committee, actively promoting inclusivity in health care. She is a prominent advocate for leadership development, equity, effective feedback mechanisms, mentorship, and advancing women in medicine. In 2024, her efforts were recognized with the “Women In Emergency Medicine Faculty Award.” Dr Bouldin shares her expertise regarding leadership, mentorship, and feedback through national talks at CORD and SAEM. At UAMS, she has been invited to speak about mentorship, emotional intelligence, gender bias, and imposter syndrome.
Dr. Bouldin’s professional engagement extends to memberships in key organizations like CORD, SAEM, and the AAMC’s Group on Educational Affairs (GEA).
