Clinical Biography
Dr. Martha Garrett-Shaver provides care for the family through each phase of life, including treatment of acute and chronic illness, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and obstetrics and women’s health.Ā Dr. Garrett-Shaver provides routine checkups, screenings health risk assessments and patient-specific education for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with an emphasis on preventive healthcare.

Academic Biography
Dr. Garrett-Shaver received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2000. She moved to the AHEC South Arkansas in El Dorado to complete her residency in 2003, serving as the chief resident in her final year. She holds her board certification with the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Garrett-Shaver has pursued interests outside of medicine for a time before beginning her medical pursuits. This includes serving as vice president for different companies in Arkansas and even teaching science in secondary school.
In recognition of her expertise, she has served on several different committees to support the UAMS South Regional Campus. This includes the Clinic Advisory Committee, the Department Heads Committee and the Peer Review Committee.

I had to wait about 2 hrs before seeing the doctor. The Doctor was supposed to call or message me letting know if she wanted me to start back taking my metformin, (after she got my lab work back) or if she was going to start me on a new diabetic meds. No one from that office has messaged me or called me. I have been having bad headaches & feeling sick from being off my diabetic meds. I have called the office 2 different times & message them also.
