About Dr. Arthur
Clinical Biography
John M. Arthur, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor and Director of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Internal Medicine. He is an M.D. Ph.D. physician scientist graduate of the University of Iowa, College of Medicine and Department of Pharmacology. He received his B.S. in Zoology from Iowa State University, graduating with distinction. Dr. Arthur completed clinical and research residency training at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, on an ABIM clinical investigator pathway. He then obtained both a clinical and research fellowship in Nephrology from Duke.
Dr. Arthur serves as a standing member for an NIH DDK-D study section and as grant reviewer for both the American Society of Nephrology and the American Heart Association. His funded investigations include an NIH R01 on which he serves as principal investigator, studying biomarkers of early renal functional decline in type 2 diabetes.
