About Dr. Kincannon
Clinical Biography
Jay Michael Kincannon, M.D., is a staff physician and Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Chief of Pediatric Dermatology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kincannon previously served as Interim Chairman of the Department of Dermatology between 2007–2009 and again in 2014–2015.
Dr. Kincannon graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Arkansas and received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1985. His internship in Pediatrics was completed at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he also completed residency training in both Pediatrics and Dermatology.
Dr. Kincannon is an active member in several national academic organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Pediatric Dermatology Society and the American Medical Association. He was the 1997 president of the Arkansas Dermatology Society. He has served on numerous committees and boards for academia and has presented at national and international summits. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and he has received yearly UAMS teaching awards, including receiving the Residency Educator Golden Apple Award numerous times.
His research interests include vascular and pigmented skin lesions, birthmarks, pediatric skin diseases, human papilloma virus immunotherapy, vitiligo and cutaneous laser therapy. He cares for both adults and children at the UAMS Medical Center Dermatology Clinic. As section chief of pediatric dermatology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, he cares for the full spectrum of childhood skin disorders including treatment of vascular birth marks.
Dr. Kincannon is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Dermatology.
