Clinical Biography
Dr. Williams is originally from El Dorado, Arkansas. She graduated college from the University of Central Arkansas with magna cum laude honors. She earned her medical degree from UAMS where she was awarded competitive scholarships for her community service and GPA, and was named to the medical honor society, alpha omega alpha. Following medical school, she completed her internship and residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa and graduated with the resident laparoscopic achievement award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. From there she completed her surgical fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. As a fellow, she received the Gynecologic Oncology Group New Investigator Award for physicians interested in clinical trial development. She regularly presents her research at regional and national meetings and also publishes peer-reviewed research articles.
Dr. Williams is board certified in General Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible for certification in Gynecologic Oncology. She specializes in treatment of cancers of the female reproductive tract including the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and lining of the abdomen called the peritoneum. She performs surgery and then administers chemotherapy where applicable for these conditions. She also works closely with Radiation Oncology when radiation therapy is needed for treatment. Surgeries conducted include minimally invasive surgery with single incision laparoscopy and Da Vinci Robotic Surgery. She performs fertility sparing therapy and surgery for select patients who met criteria for fertility preservation and have either pre-cancer or cancer of the reproductive tract. She also performs surgery for women with BRCA mutations, Lynch Syndrome and other inherited genetic conditions that predispose women to cancer. Her interests include clinical trial development and enrollment, in efforts to find new lifesaving treatments in the fight against cancer. She is also interested in survivorship and sexual wellness for women who are in remission, or are survivors of gynecologic malignancies.
Dr. Williams is pleased to serve patients back home in Arkansas, where she, her husband and two children can remain close to their family and friends.
