About Dr. Boyanton
Clinical Biography
Bobby L. Boyanton Jr., M.D., is a Professor of Pathology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and Pathologist-in-Chief and Section Medical Director of Molecular Pathology at Arkansas Childrenās Hospital. He previously was a Professor of Pathology at the Oakland University William Beaumont College of Medicine (Rochester, MI) and served as the Medical Director of the clinical microbiology and molecular pathology laboratories and Associate Residency Program Director at Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, MI).
Dr. Boyanton received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in 2002. He completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (2002-2003) and at Baylor College of Medicine (2003-2006). He completed molecular genetic pathology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine (2006-2007) and recently pursued additional training in laboratory management, receiving certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and American Pathology Foundationās Lab Management University.
During his time at Beaumont, Dr. Boyanton led numerous clinical and research initiatives. As the laboratory medical director he brought in many new state-of-the-art clinical assays and novel testing platforms. His initiatives included implementation of high-throughput molecular biology testing, expansion of reference laboratory capabilities, and laboratory standardization across Beaumont Health System. Honors included being featured in HOUR Detroit magazineās 2016 list of Top Docs and serving on the Molecular Genetic Pathology Test Development Advisory Committee (MGP-TDAC) for the American Board of Pathology.
