Resource Nurse Program
Resource RNs support the quality initiatives on their unit by championing, coaching, observing, and/or auditing. Resource RNs also meet with quality and unit nursing leaders to facilitate an improvement huddle for the unit’s strategic quality initiatives. Nurses who are interested in serving as the Resource RN for their unit should meet with their CSM.
Resource Nurse Program Mission
UAMS Nursing believes that improved patient outcomes are a result of highly skilled professional nurses who are self-motivated to continue learning, empowered to improve nursing care quality and dedicated to advancing the nursing profession. In addition to the Clinical Ladder which differentiates levels of Registered Nurse practice and expertise, the Resource Nurse Program addresses continued excellence by those nurses who remain in clinical positions delivering direct patient care.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Clinical RN IIs or RN IIIs, 0.5 FTE or greater, who have successfully completed their probationary period are eligible to seek advancement through the Resource Nurse Program.
- Candidates must complete and remain current for performance standards and have received a score of at least 3 on the previous annual performance appraisal.
- Candidates at the written stage of the disciplinary process, in the past 12 months, are ineligible to participate in the program. A Resource Nurse who receives a written disciplinary during the rotation may continue the rotation but will not be eligible for renewal.
- First preference will be given to staff without any existing leader roles (i.e. charge nurses and/or team leads). Charge Nurses and/or Team Leads can be selected as a resource nurse with approval of the unit director.
