I think it’s important to really point out the team-based approach. Daily, we work with our sports medicine colleagues, our physical therapists, our orthopedic spine surgeons and our neurosurgeons to ensure that our patients get the exact therapy that they need.
Not everyone needs surgery. Not everyone needs intervention or injection. But some patients get better with physical therapy. Some patients get better with just simple modifications to their day-to-day lives. And some patients get better with basic medications.
But this team-based approach makes sure that we effectively and efficiently treat your pain and ensure that you get back to your life.
Also, through this partnership, we’ve done a great job of making sure that we are able to provide the best opioid-sparing therapy. We all know that opioids have their risk and we want to make sure that our patients get better but get better safely.
So there are a few things that make UAMS interventional pain service different. First of all, all of our physicians are board-certified and fellowship-trained interventional pain physicians. And not only are they board-certified and fellowship-trained, but they’ve trained at some of the top institutions across the country. We also conduct a number of research trials which allow us, through partnerships across the country, to bring cutting-edge treatments here to Arkansas that would not otherwise be available.
